Free State Premier Ace Magashule has fired his MEC for economic development, tourism and economic affairs, Mxolisi Dukwana.
This follows weeks of speculation on Magashule’s plan to reshuffle his provincial cabinet.
It was expected that Magashule would fire three MECs, among them Mamiki Qabathe, MEC for cooperative governance and traditional affairs.
But Qabathe was moved to replace Dukwana instead. Olly Mlamleli has been appointed as the new MEC for cooperative governance and traditional affairs.
Mlamleli was sworn in as a member of the legislature today.
William Bulwane, spokesperson for Magashule, confirmed the reshuffling and said Mlamleli’s appointment was with immediate effect.
Asked why Dukwana was fired, Bulwane said Magashule had acted after consulting the leagues and the alliance partners.
