Make farm murders a priority: FF+

Farm murders should be declared a priority in view of a rise in the crime this year, according to the Freedom Front Plus (FFPlus).
“The murder of yet another farmer (at Buffelshoek) is unacceptable and the FFPlus is worried about the increase in farm murders from the beginning of this year,” FFPlus North West leader Pieter Groenewald said in a statement.
A 49-year-old farmer and his wife were overpowered by about five armed men on a farm in Buffelshoek on Monday.
The farmer was shot dead and his wife was beaten and tied up.
Groenewald said a recent government study found a farmer was three times more likely to be killed in a farm attack than a security guard in a cash-in-transit heist.
“We have been asking for a long time that farm murders, just like transit heists, be declared a priority crime.”
Groenewald said the FFPlus would continue to raise the issue in Parliament.
