Jub Jub crash survivers still in critical condition

2010-03-09 16:30

THE two schoolchildren who were injured yesterday when hip hop singer Molemo Maarohanye, popularly known as Jub Jub and a friend’s car crashed into them, are still in a critical condition in hospital.

Maarohanye was allegedly drag racing with a friend in Protea Glen, Soweto in a 60km zone.

The Mini Coopers they were driving crashed into each other when one of the drivers swerved to avoid an oncoming car.

The cars then ploughed into a group of schoolchildren on their way home.

Four of the learners died on the scene while the two were rushed to the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital.

According to Nokwanda Dambuza, spokesperson for the hospital, the two learners are still in a critical condition.

Investigating officer, Inspector Kay Makhubele, said the star and his friend were in custody and would appear in court tomorrow.

They face charges of culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving.

He denied media reports that quoted a Protea Regional Court official saying the charge would be changed to one of murder.

I hope that he will not just get a slap on the wrist because he is idolized by many young South Africans. Celebrities should know that they are not above the law. Yes, we are all human and accidents do happen, but when drugs and negligence are put in the spotlight, all aspects of humanity should be put aside.

Oh boy - oh boy Jub-Jub just when I was starting to think you have matured, you go and do something so stupid. Unfotunately this is a lesson from God, i am very sad for the teenagers that had to be part of this and part with their lives. May their souls rest in peace, and their families be strong - life has unpleasent suprises all the time!!

For sure Jub Jub must be feeling bad about what happened but he must be jailed for murder. PERIOD. My heart goes out to the family that lost their beloved sons, BAGAETSHO GOMOTSEGANG MODIMO OTLA ROMELA MOWA WA MOGOMOTSI GO TLA GO AGA MO DIPELONG TSA LONA.

It is very sad that all these innocent souls lost their lives because of negligence. I pass my condolences to the families who lost their beloved children. God have mercy.

Jub Jub should write another gospel/hip-hop song on his prison wall, and recite it to fellow inmates convicted of murder. Condolences to the bereaved family.

I send my condolences to the families. I  hope that Jub Jub gets what's coming to him.

Honestly, I do not have any remorse for Jub Jub. The judge must make a final decision based on the lives of future academics, which were lost. As for Jub Jub, he can rot in jail.

Oh my!!My heart bleeds and goes out to the families who lost these young souls, God be with them through this difficult time. On the other hand I feel sorry for Jubi, yes he was reckless and negligent and now its too late to cry over split milk, it was not his intention to kill to those kids, but his irresponsible manner led to that happening, and for that major repercussions will have to be paid. This is a lesson from God and Jub Jub, just be strong my dear, God still loves you. One thing for sure is the law will take its course. LEASON LEARNED on his part, fast cars, fast life, drugs dont go hand in hand...
phetsile 3/15/2010 12:33:25 PM
Jub Jub should know better. The massage is clear, dont drink and drive. There he goes sniffing cocainne making it worse. We are tired of these celebrities who don't practise what they preach and think that because they have money they can get away easily. The state must make an example with Jub Jub.
sibongile 3/16/2010 12:36:56 PM
I'm really sorry for the families that lost their loved ones. We as South Africans send our condolences to all the families and stay strong God is there in every step of the way. I hope the boys could rest in peace. I hope justice will take its cause for Jub Jub; I wont lie I really feel sorry for him but he deserves every punishment that will be given to him.
lebo 3/16/2010 10:17:34 PM
i can't think of anything since the accident, to the families may ALMIGHTY BE WITH YOU AND MAY YOU FIND COMFORT IN HIS LOVING HANDS, to Jub-Jub I really feel sorry for you, hope you can learn from this experience

My sincere condolences to the families of Andile, Phomelelo, Mlungisi and Prince. Ke lla le lona (I weep with you) as i have been affected by this too. I am touched and I cried the day I saw four bodies covered in silver paper. I am still in pain, as I wake up in the middle of the night and picture the whole incident as if I saw it. I prayed that day for their souls to rest in peace and asked God to sort Jub Jub and his friend out. It really disturbed me and I feel pain when I think about them everyday since I saw their pictures.

if jub-jub still had some kind of humanity in him he would have pleaded giulty to all charges on the first day, but because he thinks his some important figure in our country his whiling to fight for his rights! what rights? he lost them and the respect that we had for him the day he crusifired the poor school children. His mother had the opportunity to see him growup into the celed that he was, what about the other parents whom their children have desised
dick 3/18/2010 4:54:40 PM
Where are our leaders? Where are our heros? When will those who we look up to and admire act in the responsible manner they should? I am losing respect. I am losing faith.
cnemane 3/25/2010 4:03:21 PM
Justice, Justice there aint no justice la emzansi. How can they get a bail??????????
mphoza 4/6/2010 1:41:12 PM
I think the fair judgement should be taken on this case regardless of whether the accused person is famous or not for the sake of the grieving families.
