While most people had gathered at Protea Magistrate’s Court for hip-hop star Jub Jub’s first hearing, schoolchildren from the accident victims’ schools visited the accident site to pay their respects.

In a sea of school uniforms, some red from Jules High School and some blue from Almont High School, it was clear from the pain written across the students’ faces that they were in mourning.

It was a heart-wrenching sight. Many of the children were wailing, so much so that some could hardly speak.

They sang a variety of funeral songs and laid flowers in the bushes where the victims died.

On Monday, Jub Jub (real name Molemo Maarohanye) and his friend Themba Tshabalala were racing on Protea Boulevard when their vehicles ploughed into school children on their way home from school.

Andile Mthombeni (Grade 11), Prince Mohube (Grade 10), Mlungisi Cwayi (Grade 12), and Phomello Masemola (Grade 10) were killed instantly.

Fumani Mushwana, 16, and Frank Mlambo, 17, are in Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in a critical condition.

Thabo Khanye, 18, says that victims Mlungisi Cwayi and Phomello Masemola were his friends. He was grief-stricken. “I can’t explain how I feel right now,” he muttered.

Police had still cordoned off Protea Boulevard, on which Monday’s accident happened.

Meanwhile, the two accused were officially charged with four counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, one count of reckless and negligent driving, as well as one count of driving under the influence earlier on today.

They were charged with four counts of murder, two for attempted murder and not culpible homicide.

Eish this is such a trauma, you know i'm trying to put my foot in the Pupils' parents and it's so difficult, this is so difficult for every parent, what Jub Jub has done is unexplainable I don't even have words to say it, it's horrible for someone of his caliber. Even though he gets freed some time we'll never forget what he did, this is a warning and it came in a wrong direction with innocent children, drivers must learn and be careful.
itumeleng 3/11/2010 3:26:11 PM
No this guy should just rot in jail. He must just go to jail and not on a light sentence.
joseph kotse 3/11/2010 9:36:49 PM
I think jub jub must get a lesson and be a good example to others because I dont understand this thing of drag racing within the community. He can't tell me that he couldn't see the kids; he must go to jail for a good lesson.
Malehlohonolo 3/12/2010 12:07:31 PM
I don't know what to say to the parents who lost their loved ones... I'm really really sorry. I can fell the pain, I even cried myself to sleep on Monday night. We don't want them to rot in jail, we want to kill them with our own hands, we don't want death penalty or anything...
the incredible 3/12/2010 3:08:04 PM
Jub Jub deserves to rot and die in jail. What kind of recklessness is that? No one in their good state of mind would do such a thing,, that's a shame. Drugs, drugs, drugs... Shame on you Jub Jub, you had no remorse for what you did. How can you be worried about your car when pupils are dead? You are a disgrace to the community.
orapetswe 3/13/2010 10:28:36 AM
He disappointed me so much. I don't think I will still listen to his music again. He deserves to be kept away from society. This time money means nothing. I hope God forgives him. May their souls rest in peace.
tshiamiso 3/15/2010 11:56:27 AM
I am greatly dissapointed in Jub Ju; he deserves a life sentence and he must rot in jail as he caused that accident intentionally. There was no need to play in a PUBLIC road. He could have played in his own yard.
Patricia Sihlangu 3/15/2010 2:10:42 PM
Jub jub should rot in jail. I feel sorry to the parents I know is very difficult to accept, but ay the Lord comfort you.
Eveline 3/16/2010 3:14:08 PM
Its a shame that someone youngsters look up to nowadays had to be part of such a horrific accident. The children are safe in heaven now, but one wonders how JUB JUB will ever find peace or even make peace with himself. The road ahead for him is bleak.. as fellow christians we should not judge but pray to God to heal the souls of those hurting.

My heart goes out to all the parents I know the pain you feel. I also lost my only daughter, you can't explain it. I'd never wish this for any parent to have their child die, no matter which way they pass on. Just take one day at a time and God will help you through everyday. People should think before they act, then take responsiblity for there actions. Take care and good luck parents.

Shame i can feel the pain,i  cry everytime i read the story. i feel sorry to the parent, i  know everybody wants them to rot in jail, but if it was for me to decide what to do with them, i was gonna let them walk free. There is noway they gonna live with what they did, it will haunt them for the rest of their lives. They will never find peace. Eventually one of them will commit suecide.may their souls rest in peace...
Von 3/17/2010 3:36:54 PM
we should only try fixin the future is not like he did it on purpose he is realy sorry where ever he is,,, i bet he will never do it again, just let the guy go
Milly 3/17/2010 4:00:23 PM
Despite everything I really feel sorry for Jub Jub....The community is threatening him, as well as the prisoners..... He must feel like hell..... he is not wanted anywhere
vuvu 3/18/2010 12:58:24 PM
I think there is no one who plans to kill a soul but JUBJUB has embarrassed the music industry, especially when it comes to DRUGS it's really a disgrace. He deserves a huge punishment but not to rot in prison shame.
Princess/Amina M 3/18/2010 3:31:24 PM
PEOPLE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT IT WAS HOMHCIDE AND FACT IS THEY WERE BOTH WRONG. HE HAD ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES IN HIS BODY AND WAS RACING AND THOSE KIDS WERE WATCHING. UNFORTUNATELY THEY PASSED ON (HOPE THEIR SOULS WILL REST IN PEACE) BUT THEY WERE AT THE WRONG PLACE AT A WRONG TIME. FOR JUB JUB - I'M DISSAPOINTED!!!!!
thube 3/22/2010 1:03:48 PM
This is really sadIi just saw the pictures of those kid there mourning. I love you Jub Jub but sorry you have to suffer the consequences
warren 3/23/2010 8:44:26 AM
I would like to make a prediction here. They will go free on some sort of light sentence because there is no justice in this country. BUT THE DRUGS WILL GET HIM IN THE END. Maybe in the not too soon distant future there will be a little article in the newspaper Jub Jub found dead in apparent drug overdose.
mysterious bee 3/23/2010 2:59:04 PM
People, you have to undrestand that though Jub Jub took the lives of those children, it was not anything he intended to do. I understand the pain that the families are feeling, but we just need to bear in mind that one way or the other, we all gonna die someday.
NKAGELE LETOALO 3/24/2010 2:20:25 PM
I think what Jub Jub did was totally wrong and my condolasance to the families. But we must try to live as Christians and try to forgive Jub Jub and Themba
Gerda 3/25/2010 8:51:59 AM
I feel sorry for the families and may the souls for their loved ones rest in peace. In life there is a time for everything, Jub Jub did a terible thing but what we have to know is that only God knows the time. He shouldn't be blamed but be punished for what he did. In life we are born to die but what hurt the most is how we die.
thabiso 3/25/2010 7:19:42 PM
I think Jub Jub did not do this because he wanted I think were should accept maybe its God's will.l
