‘Zuma love child chapter is closed' - ANCYL

2010-02-04 11:15

The latest chapter in President Jacob Zuma’s sex life should now be closed, the ANC Youth League said today.

“The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) welcomes the statement of the ANC and country President Jacob Zuma on his issues that really are private.

“We believe that the media will not continue with the sensationalism around the whole issue,” the ANCYL said in a statement.

“The ANCYL will not be agreeing to discuss private issues of elders in the public discourse, and hope that it is now a closed chapter.”

The youth league was responding to Zuma admitting yesterday that he had indeed fathered a love child with Sonono Khoza, the daughter of Irvin Khoza.

Zuma said he had already paid the family “damages“.

The ANCYL said it would no longer entertain any discussion in the media around the matter.

“In line with what is said above, the ANCYL will not take any media enquiries concerning the private life of the president of the ANC and country, whom we hold in high regard, and applauds his unquestionable commitment to bettering livelihoods of all people.

“The chapter is closed.”

Let us respect the President Jacob Zuma. He is entitled to private life like any other SA citizen. We black people should respect the elders. Viva president Zuma viva

Sipho, respect is earned. It is dangerous to expect the youth to blindly follow and respect leaders by mere virtue of the fact that they are older. What we need in SA is a critical youth that can discern which behaivour is acceptable and which is deplorable. The only way a democracy work is if the masses are able to hold their government and leaders accountable. Zuma himself is not acting like an elder but rather a testosterone driven teenager.

You respect elders by their actions. He is supposed to be role model to young males in South Africa.

ANCYL comments smacks of double standards. Malema was quick to attack Zille who is his elder, whilst he sees nothing wrong with Zuma's love child. Where is the evidence to prove Zille did the wrong whereas the President himself confirmed his wrong doings. ANCYL please, if you want to show respect to elders, it must be to everyone and not a select few as when it suits the league

It is exactlly what the ANCYL did to Mr T Mbeki, tnere was no respect given to him. They were just talking as if they were talking to the boy of their same age. There is no respect form the ANCYL, mostly Malema
