New board for Athletics SA

Athletics South Africa’s (ASA’s) new board members will be announced today, administrator Ray Mali said.
He said the election process would take place at the Holiday Inn Garden Court opposite OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg this morning.
“We only have one item – election. The meeting can last for two hours,” he said.
An announcement on the new board would then take place at the venue after the meeting. “The announcement can be made at 1pm or later,” he said.
The SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc), which had been in control of ASA since November last year, had called for elections amid pressure by the International Association of Athletics Federations to hand the sport back to the national federation.
Most of the board members suspended by Sascoc 10 months ago had resigned, but some posts could not be filled until the finalisation of disciplinary procedures against those who had not yet resigned, including president Leonard Chuene.
