New Year petrol price relief

The retail price of fuel will decrease at the beginning of January, the department of energy has said.

Spokesperson Thandiwe Maimane said the price of 95 octane petrol would decrease by 15c a litre and 93 octane by 13c a litre.

The cost of diesel with 0.05 sulphur octane would decrease by 27c a litre and diesel with 0.005 sulphur octane by 28c a litre.

The price of illuminating paraffin would decrease by 17c a litre and liquid petroleum gas by 9c a kilogram.

The price changes would be effected from January 2.
