Chiano Sky rules the paintball field
Chiano Sky never ditches her heels – not even when she’s nipping out to buy milk or playing paintball.
The 19-year-old ‘Sick Sick’ singer has captivated South African audiences with her voice and Dita Von Teese-like sexy image, but says she’s not scared to let her hair down and get a little dirty.
A day of paintball allows her to do just that.
‘I love to play, that’s part of my personality,’ she says.
‘I’m not much of an adrenaline junkie and I don’t have a tomboy streak, but every now and then, there’s a lot to be said for some harmless competition outdoors.’
Although she’s not determined to win on the paintball field, the young singer is certainly focused on winning in the music industry.
She was waitressing at a Joburg restaurant when DJ Paul Almeida walked in.
The manager told him about her singing skills and within weeks DJ Paul had sent her demos to EMI Records.
‘It happened so quickly and it made my dreams become a reality,’ she says. Since then I’ve been doing what I always dreamt of doing and I feel very lucky that I can do it at such a young age.
‘I have every intention of giving it my best shot, while making sure I stay true to myself,’ she says.
When it comes to style, Chiano Sky believes that whatever makes you most comfortable is the winning ingredient.
‘I love to put on heels and play around with a whole lot of different looks put together from a mixture of charity shops, flea markets and whatever catches my eye. When I look my best, I feel confident to get up on stage and do my best.’
