eNCA suspends Lance Witten over ‘dying to see Linkin Park’ tweet
eNCA has announced that sports reporter Lance Witten has been suspended due to a controversial tweet he posted after the death of a Linkin Park concertgoer just outside the Cape Town Stadium.
The 24-hour news channel posted a statement on their Twitter page after Witten apologised for his tweet posted early this morning which read: “Linkin Park is so badass, people are dying to see ’em”.
Witten has since deleted the post from his Twitter profile.
eNCA wrote: “Witten’s comments do not reflect the views or values of our company. An internal inquiry into Mr Witten’s comments will be conducted.”
eNCA also expressed: “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young woman who lost her life, and all those injured in the #LinkinPark incident.”
A woman died last night after an advertising structure collapsed just hours before US rock band Linkin Park took to the stage for their first concert in South Africa.
The band expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family of the victim.
