» The 5FM Black Tie & Barefoot (NYE) Beach Party

What: 5FM’s official New Year’s Eve event is dubbed “the biggest beach Jozi has ever seen!” (exaggeration, theirs).
The station’s DJs C-Live, Fix and Catherine will be joined on the decks by Global Spin Award-winner DJ Roxxi, Didi, Vybe & Chizzy, Spinn Bad and Shai.
The beach with its crazy dress theme will give guests an eclectic mix of the hottest, most rocking beats.
In case of rain, 70% of the outdoor area will be covered by a tent the size of half a rugby field. You have been warned.

Where: Motseng Cultural Village – Sun City, North West
What: The Shebeen is the spot to be on the last day of 2012 as they’ll be hosting a party to remember with live entertainment from Pantsula dancers and the resident DJs; food, drinks and music will take revellers through the different decades, from Sophiatown in the 1960s to the birth of kwaito as well as the latest house music hits.

What: Every year, thousands of party lovers do a pilgrimage to Welkom where there’s one of the biggest New Year’s Eve parties.
Yes, in Welkom. The revelry starts on December 30 with Motorshow Mayhem, where guests are treated to a car spectacular complete with spin masters, bikers, modified cars and posh cars on display.
That same night, there’s a comedy show hosted by David Kau at Ferdie Meyer Hall.
Then on NYE, the Phakisa Showgrounds will be packed with people who will welcome 2013 listening to three international DJs and 25 of Mzansi’s hottest artists and spin masters.
To wind down, the first day of the year will be spent at the Metro FM Lounge at Flamingo Lake listening to jazz and the sounds of the love trio Wilson B Nkosi, Eddie Zondi and Paul Mtirara.

Summon in 2013 with the soulful sounds of South African jazz legend Hugh Masekela and local band Hot Water.
Enjoy this legendary muso at a relaxed picnic-style show under the night sky on the garden’s expansive lawns.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and cushions, baskets of eats and bottles of bubbly.
Those less inclined to preplanning, Kirstenbosch’s new on-site restaurant, Moyo, will be selling selections of picnic treats on the evening. Gates open at 7pm and the show kicks off at 8.30pm.

What: Come party into 2013 listening to Durban’s finest DJ Tira at his popular NYE party with a roster of 30 artists.

What: Tickets sales are said to have hit a record high this year for this popular event.
Thousands of young people descend on this town for the annual party that has become become an institution among many of South Africa’s youth, who tend to congregate at the annual OxBraai at Bathurst on the 29th, before heading off to celebrate New Year’s Eve at The Ruins.
