The former ANC Youth League president took to his newly-acquired Twitter account yesterday and asked his followers to vote for Idols finalist Khaya Mthethwa.

The 25-year-old Durbanite is facing off against 23-year-old Melissa Allison from Port Elizabeth in the competition’s finale.

The tweet posted to Julius Sello Malema’s Twitter account read: “Let’s all vote Khaya for Idols SA Season 8 by sending sms 08 to 37400. He’s undeniably the best of all Idols and needs our support.”

Khaya Mthethwa and Melissa Allison will perform for audiences in the last Idols 8 spectacular show, due to air on M-Net (101) and Mzansi Magic (107) on Sunday, September 30 at 5:30pm.

The winner will be announced during a 90-minute finale taking place on Tuesday, October 2 at 7:30pm.

To vote for Khaya, SMS 08 to 37400. To vote for Melissa, SMS 07 to 37400.
