Minnie’s dreams are shaping up
Television personality Minenhle Dlamini’s American dream is a little closer.
The 22-year-old had her first taste of business abroad when she was booked for the Trump Soho Tower in Manhattan, New York, by her Motions hair products representatives.
While there, she was invited to party with US celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephens at her birthday bash, also attended by singer Rihanna, actress Taraji P Henson and plus-size model Toccara Jones.
“It was an amazing experience meeting Rihanna and Taraji. I also got to meet rapper The Game and visit some of the places I’ve dreamed of visiting like Broadway and Madison Square Garden,” said Dlamini.
But that wasn’t all. Dlamini is tight-lipped about attending a casting for an international music show on Black Entertainment Television, for which she was apparently scouted as a local correspondent.
She also bagged beauty and fashion shoots with popular US magazines Essence, Ebony and Teen Vogue.
She is in talks with Motions about doing global work for the brand, and her advert will also broadcast in the US.
“Yes I did go to a casting for a music show but I cannot confirm any details yet. I am going back next year for another casting,” she said.
At home Dlamini is doing well, and is rumoured to have landed a job on SuperSport to present the wrap show Blitz.
Her CV already includes ambassadorships for Revlon and Jeep, and on Monday she added to it with the presidency of MTN’s Yolo Board youth initiative, after winning over 60% of the public vote.
She beat celebs including Lira, JR and Poppy Ntshongwana.
If all goes well, the star of now-terminated show The Wild may consider a move abroad, leaving behind her man, soccer star Itumeleng Khune.
“My focus is on my job right now. I have to work and eat and I don’t want to look back later in life regretting not having taken the opportunities I have been granted,” she said.
