The FlyChix, South Africa’s latest reality TV show on Vuzu, has certainly got people talking – but they’re not saying the nicest of things.
The show follows the lives of four hot bunnies – Denise Zimba, Zeena Edwards, Nkateko Maswanganye, aka “Takkies” and Joy Ragebult – as they seek fame and fortune in the music industry.
Zimba got the best traction on Twitter, with the audience saying they love her in-your-face attitude and bossiness.
As the former love interest of rapper Da L.E.S. of Jozi fame, she had her fair share of the spotlight.
The two were rumoured to be dating, something Zimba laughs off when speaking to City Press. “There was nothing going on between us. It’s because I spent a lot of time with him and I respect him and his music.”
However, fellow band member Edwards was more than candid about the two.
“I don’t know what the essence of the relationship was, it really wasn’t a relationship. It was like an after-nine thing but more (than just that),” she chuckles.
While the girls are relishing their 15 minutes of fame, Twitter has been less welcoming.
One viewer tweeted: “I am defeated! Like why aren’t these children in Life Orientation classes or something? #flychix.”
Another tweeted: “I honestly don’t know them! RT @Zam_Nzimande: Hottest girl group in SA? South Africa doesn’t know who they are. #FlyChix #Vuzu.”
At their launch party this week, some partygoers were confused as to who these Chix were. Others admitted to just being there for the free booze.
» FlyChix airs on Wednesdays on Vuzu (channel 116) at 7.30pm
