Avianto Estate hosts O magazine tea party
The gods were smiling down on the Summer Tea Party hosted by O, The Oprah Magazine, because everything was perfect.
The weather was on the right side of sunny, the ladies were colourful in their flowing summer florals, the hats and fascinators competed for first prize and the shoes were eye-popping.
The romantic-wedding favourite, Avianto Estate in Muldersdrift, was again the venue of choice and didn’t disappoint, with touches of pink draping the open spaces where different exhibits were displayed.
The pamper zone was definitely a favourite. Ladies enjoyed manicures, neck and shoulder rubs, and make-up applied by pros, while sipping on JC Le Roux sparkling wine.
I shared a table with First Lady Tobeka Zuma, who was surprisingly affable to the star-struck guests who kept asking to pose with her for pictures.
“Ma’am”, as her staff call her, was in a striking coral fitted dress with with lace panels by budding Durban designer Shaban. The Feathered pink fascinator and heels complemented her colour blocking beautifully.
Actress Nambitha Mpumlwana displayed her patience by taking pictures with a long line of staff and guests. The Oprah Magazine’s editor, Samantha Page, is a fantastic hostess.
She captivated the audience with her personality and wit.
