Pics – Oscar back in court

The bail application of Paralympian murder accused Oscar Pistorius in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court ran into its second day on Wednesday (February 20 2013). The court heard that a witness had heard a fight between Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp, who was allegedly murdered by Pistorius, in the early hours of Valentine’s Day; that Pistorius was considered a flight risk because he had a home in Italy (a claim the defence denied); that the investigating officer had no evidence that Pistorius, a double amputee, had put on his prosthetic legs before the shooting and that testosterone was found at his home, which the defence claimed was herbal medicine. Pistorius cried repeatedly during the proceedings.

Investigating officer Hilton Botha had a tough day on the witness stand. The defence, among others, claimed he had contaminated the scene.

Botha conceded under cross-examination by Advocate Barry Roux, for Pistorius (above), that he couldn’t find anything on the crime scene which was inconsistent with Pistorius’ version that it was an accidental shooting.

A plan of the house, which was shown in court. The court heard that Pistorius had used a cricket bat to break down the toilet door.
