73.9% passed matric in 2012
A total of 73.9% of matric pupils passed in 2012, said Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga.
This is an improvement on the 70.2% pass rate in 2011.
Before announcing this year’s results, Motshekga today said the Limpopo textbook saga was unfortunate.
“It should not have happened,” she said.
Motshekga said the delayed textbooks were for Grade 1 to 3 and Grade 10. Matriculants were not affected.
Schools in the province were without books for the first seven months of the school year in 2012.
