ANC membership rolls ‘manipulated’
The Eastern Cape ANC believes membership records are being manipulated and the system needs an overhaul.
The province will ask the national elective conference to be held in December at Mangaung to implement a “card system” that will help new ANC members keep proof of their status, ANC provincial spokesman Mlibo Qoboshiyane told the the Dispatch Online today.
The province officially lost more than 35 000 members after recent membership audits.
Qoboshiyane said the current system was open to manipulation as all membership records are kept by branch secretaries who might disappear with those records.
This made it difficult to hold branch meetings as there was no way to prove who qualified to participate.
