ANCYL to pay Semenya pledged money in October
THE ANC Youth League will hand over the R60 000 it pledged to
athlete Caster Semenya on October 24, the organisation’s spokesperson, Floyd
Shivambu, said today.
Shivambu, said the ceremony would take place in Johannesburg.
The league pledged the money to Semenya when she returned to
Johannesburg after winning the women’s 800m at world athletics championships in
Germany amid controversy over her gender.
It also pledged tens of thousands of rands to 800m male champion
Mbulaeni Mulaudzi and silver long jump medallist Khotso Mokoena at a media
conference in August.
