Baby croc settles in at botanical gardens
A baby crocodile has settled in at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg.
The crocodile has been spotted on a sandbank at the waterfall’s pool, traditionally a play area for children visiting the gardens over weekends.
It is only 80cm long, but staff told Beeld newspaper it would still cause serious injury if it bit anyone.
A picture of the crocodile has been doing the rounds and a Facebook group for the botanical gardens is discussing names for him, including “Walt”, “Kwena”, “Teardrop” and “Sisi”.
Meanwhile, a safety sign has been put up at the waterfall, warning people not to go near the pool. – Sapa
