Court intervenes after boy expelled for allegedly having sex in classroom
The North Gauteng High Court has granted an urgent interdict to allow a boy to write exams after he was expelled from his Seventh Day Adventist church school for allegedly having sex in a classroom.
The 17-year-old Grade 10 pupil at the Blue Hills College in Midrand, Johannesburg, allegedly had sex with a 19-year-old Grade 12 girl in a classroom in July, the Sowetan reported today.
Apparently four pupils had been caught having sex in the classroom in July.
Three of them were expelled. The Grade 12 girl was suspended and allowed to write her matric exams.
“She is writing her exams, while my son is expelled … despite the sex having been consensual,” the father was quoted as saying.
The court handed down an order on Friday that the boy be allowed to write exams.
The school said the girl could not get into another centre to write her matric exams so late into the year.
