Jakes Gerwel in critical condition – family
Media24 chairperson Jakes Gerwel was in a critical condition in hospital following heart surgery, his family has said.
The Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory released a statement to the media on behalf of the family today.
“Following media reports that Professor Jakes Gerwel has passed away, the Gerwel family would like it to be known that while Professor Gerwel is in a critical condition following heart surgery in Cape Town, the reports of his death are untrue.
“As and when necessary, his family will provide further updates,” read the statement.
