No arrests in Harmony shooting
Gauteng police are still looking for the killers of two miners at Harmony’s Kusasalethu mine, near Carletonville.
“No arrest has been made, the situation is calm,” spokesperson Lt-Col Katlego Mogale said today.
Two people were killed and one was wounded.
Mineworker Sithembile Nqulo yesterday said the shooting was the result of rivalry between the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).
“Amcu members were on their way to their weekly meetings when a small group of NUM members called them and said they should join their union. The next thing we just heard gun shots.”
