Sangoma charged with grave desecration granted bail
A sangoma and his driver were each granted R1 000 bail after appearing in connection with the alleged desecration of a grave in Mmabatho, North West.
“The two men were searched after they were seen leaving the cemetery carrying a suspicious bag early on Friday morning,” police spokesperson Captain Amanda Funani said today.
Sangoma Koketso Jabane and Rapelang Modise were found with human remains belonging to the corpse of Sipho Lolwane, an albino, who was buried in the Moletsamongwe cemetery in 2002.
According to Funani, the same grave had been tampered with in 2011, but no arrests were made at the time.
The two men were expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court again on December 7.
