Toddler rescued from drowning
A two-year-old girl nearly drowned in a swimming pool in Richards Bay.
“Reports indicate that the family found the child at the bottom of the pool. After removing her from the water, neighbours started resuscitation,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha yesterday.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the child still unresponsive and took over with advanced life support resuscitation.
After the child was placed on a ventilator, they transported her to the Netcare Bay Hospital for further treatment.
“After a lengthily resuscitation they managed to regain a spontaneous heart beat. The child was moved into the intensive care unit where she remains in a critical condition,” Botha said.
