Vosloorus school shooting case postponed
The court case against a school pupil accused of shooting a fellow pupil who had allegedly bullied him has been postponed in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court.
The 18-year-old accused made his first court appearance this morning. He wore blue jeans and a grey printed T-shirt. The soft-spoken pupil stared straight ahead during proceedings.
He has been charged with allegedly shooting and killing Phineas Xulu Secondary School pupil Nkululeko Ndlovu on Tuesday. The accused is said to have been bullied by Ndlovu.
Prosecutor Vutlhari Mulungwa asked for a seven-day postponement to get witness statements which were still outstanding as the pupils were traumatised by the incident.
The case has been postponed to November 29 for a formal bail application.
The accused is in custody.
The magistrate ordered that no pictures that can identify the accused may be released.
He faces charges of murder, theft of a state firearm and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Four relatives of the deceased were delegated by the family to attend today’s court proceedings.
