This is the letter that proves President Jacob Zuma was aware of the extent of upgrades to his Nkandla residence paid for by the state.

Signed on November 5 2010 by former Public Works Minister Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde – four days after she had been appointed by Zuma – the letter updates Zuma on progress with the multimillion-rand project.

Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi revealed yesterday that R206 million had so far been spent on the project.

At the press briefing, Nxesi said Zuma had not been involved in the project.

In her letter to Zuma, Mahlangu-Nkabinde said it was “prudent” to update him on progress on the matter.

She then lists several areas paid for by Public Works, including a cattle culvert, guardhouse and tuck shop and the relocation of families whose houses had to be demolished for the project.

Nxesi said irregularities occurred in the procurement of services and that disciplinary action would be instituted against Public Works officials.

Nxesi further referred his report to the Special Investigating Unit, the police and the Auditor-General.

Of course he knew – no question about it. The fact is, he does not care. The fact that his greed and abuse of public funds will result in even more suffering for the poor, does not phase him in the least. He is a thief, a liar, a coward and a complete failure. He has no morals and has made a mockery of the struggle that cost so much. How anyone can still support the ANC after this inkandla saga, coupled with the toll road fiasco, is beyond me. They are killing us. They have destroyed what could have been an awesome country with their greed and incompetence, and they are an embarrassment. They fuel the flames of racial hatred to detract from their filth. Zuma is despicable.

Absolutely no question about it – Jake Zee was aware of this since 2009 – it did not just spring up without his knowledge or without funding from taxpayers – w.t.f. do these ANC imbeciles and Thulas Nxesi in particular , think the governments money comes from – VAT + TAXES FFS .
All is relatively quiet around Nkandla , for the work of maggots is not measured in decibels. And even if it were, tribal music drowns all thinking in a sea of noise .

Having read this letter I do not see anything that advises the president about the 31 or so security houses to be constructed, or soccer 2 soccer fields or even the costs of these to the state. It merely updates him on the progress of work to be done. I actually wonder if former Presidents had asked the state how much the security arrangements in their private houses would cost as the newspaper seems to expect president Zuma to have done so. Just leave this matter and stop this opportunistic attack on the President. It would be a different case maybe if these were the minutes of the meetings between the department and the president with all the details that are in the media.

  Philo, Philo, Philo what is meant is that the President was not in charge of the security details the law required that they be implemented at his residence. Obviously it is his home,he saw the changes and was updated on progress. He had no legal authority to approve or disapprove budgets and operations or even design the security structures.

The reporter however fails to prove that the President knew what the project would cost. Further, the letter to the President is evidently for Security upgrade. No disputes the fact that the upgrade were necessary. The issue is here about the cost. Minister Nxesi is exactly tackling that issue. As the Department, they were paying service providers, who in turn inflated the prices. The President does not dispute that he knew about the project, it was in his house for God’s sake. All he desputes is that, the state did not build him a home. The minister’s letter affirms that. No house was built by the state for this president.

What Minister Nxesi, Minister Shabangu and the President did not know, were the costs to the security upgrades. Therefore, not a single one of them is guilty of any wrong doing. The guilty party remains the one that inflated the costs for their own benefit.

To this end, this story proves nothing and provides nothing new to what is already public knowledge.
