Majoro fit again and raring to go
Although he still has to undergo tests before he can be declared 100% fit, striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has made himself available for team selection for Bafana Bafana’s game against Mali on Saturday night.
Majoro, who missed the team’s 2-2 draw with Morocco on Sunday due to a shin injury which required seven stitches, said he was ready as he felt good.
He said he was excited to be back after he resumed full training with the rest of the players today.
“I thought I’d never be able to play again in this tournament. I am looking forward to Saturday’s game now that I have completely recovered,” said Majoro.
The goal he scored against Angola last week boosted his confidence, he said.
Majoro, who is the only striker to have scored a goal for Bafana at the tournament so far, said that it was not only up to the strikers to score goals but it was every player’s responsibility when they get the chance.
“It is always good to score because it boosts your confidence, but here it does not matter who scores as football is a team sport. We are all in this together and it is not about individual glory as that will lead to people becoming selfish.”
Meanwhile, winger Thuso Phala echoed Majoro’s sentiments saying the team was ready to make the country proud.
However, he conceded it was going to be a difficult game as they would be playing against experienced players who play in top European leagues.
“We know what to do to overcome them because it is not about height or their physique. If we focus on our own strength I am sure we will win the game,” said Phala, who has been one of the outstanding players in the tournament.
He believes the game against Morocco has prepared the team for the Mali clash.
