Morocco will ‘throw everything’ at Bafana

After losing the bid to host the 2010 Fifa World Cup to South Africa and being defeated twice by Bafana Bafana in the Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco will want to turn the tables tomorrow evening in a must-win match at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The last time the two teams met, they played to a 1-all draw in Tunisia in 2004.
The Atlas Lions lost to Bafana Bafana in 1998 Africa Cup of Nations in Burkina Faso and in Mali in 2002.
After playing two consecutive draws in this year’s Afcon, Morocco need to beat Bafana to book a place in the quarterfinals and coach Rachid Taoussi said this was possible.
Taoussi said they had done their homework and knew what to expect.
He said he expected Bafana to sit back and allow them to attack and emphasised that was what they intended to do.
“This game is like a cup final to us because we have to win it or we go home. We will throw everything we have so as to win the game,” said Taoussi.
He added that they were physically, tactically, technically and psychologically prepared for the match. “We have realised our mistakes in the previous two games and rectified them and hopefully we will give a good account of ourselves tomorrow. We needed to do introspection and we are happy with our analysis of the situation.”
Taoussi was bombarded with questions by the media about his future and the state of football in the nation. He said he was still in a rebuilding phase and needed time to get things right.
He said when he took over the reins the team was in a very poor state and he was doing his best to build it. “We need to work hard together to get our team to the top again and it is every player’s responsibility to play their part.”
